PGA Tour 2023 explained
The PGA Tour is a non-profit organization organizing a series of golf tournaments around the world. Their main focus is on the United States. Most players are from the United States and most tournaments are played in the US. The PGA tour of 2023 has started this September and ends in August, with 50 different tournaments along the way. Only the best golf players enter the PGA Tour and you have to qualify as a player before you can enter it. Therefore, it’s the biggest golf tour in the world with people from all over the world watching it. The PGA Tour of 2023 contains some new players who graduated from the Korn Ferry Tour.
The popularity of the PGA Tour results in enormous prize pools with every tournament. The purse of a single tournaments varies between $5.000.000 and $15.000.000 and some tournaments have prize pools going all the way up to $25.000.000! However, the biggest prizes are earned in the Masters.
The Masters
The Masters are the four 4 biggest tournaments of the PGA tour with millions of people watching it. The 4 Masters are:

- The Open Championship: Jul 20 -23
The Masters Tournament is the first of the ‘Great 4’ to be played in 2023. From the 6th until the 9th of April, the best players will visit Augusta (Georgia) to play at the Augusta National Golf Club.
The PGA Championship is the second one. The stakes are high during this tournament. The winner of the Championship has a secured spot for all the other majors for 5 years straight. Besides, you can take part in the PGA Championship for life! The tournament has a different location each year, but is mostly held somewhere in the Eastern part of the US.
The U.S. Open is third in line, from June 15 to June 18. The winner can expect a prize of more than $3.000.000 and has a secured spot for future tournaments. The location of the tournament can differ as well, but the first one was held at the Newport Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island.
The last one of the majors is The Open (British Open) and is held at St. Andrews in Scotland which is considered the oldest golf course. The Open is also the oldest golf tournament and owes its name to the fact that it is officially ‘open’ to everyone. Of course you still have to qualify for it!
