Super Bowl 2023

September 27, 2022

The NFL has begun and the first few games are played. They will fight a full season to get a spot in the Super Bowl, without a doubt the most important game for a football player. Millions of people from all over the world are watching this huge sports event. The Super Bowl is the biggest and most watched single sports event on the earth. It’s not only the football match, but much more. Think about stuff like the Halftime show.

But who is going to compete for those spots in the Super Bowl? Not all the teams are equally good, so there are some favorites. But the question is: Will they perform like everyone expects from them? Now it’s time to see who the favorites are and who fall short for the Super Bowl.

About the Super Bowl

Vince-Lombardi-Trophy

This year we will see the 57th Super Bowl, but what is the Super Bowl? The Super Bowl is the ultimate finale for the NFL. The No. 1 AFC team plays against the No. 1 NFC team. A team can get to the Super Bowl by being first in their division or by getting a wildcard. When you have enough wins you can get a wildcard. After the regular season you get into the playoffs. There are playoffs between the AFC teams and the NFC teams.

The winner of the Super Bowl can win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. This trophy is named after the all-time Hall of Fame Head Coach, Vince Lombardi. He won the first 2 Super Bowls.

Last year over 10 million people watched the Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Super Bowl is the biggest one-day yearly sports event on the earth. It’s the final of the NFL season.

Interesting Facts

  • New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers have the most Super Bowl trophies, both have 6
  • The Patriots have the most appearances in the Super Bowl, 11 in total
  • The Denver Broncos and Patriots are the most defeated teams in a Super Bowl, 5 defeats
  • There are two teams undefeated in every Super Bowl final they’ve been in, the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • There are 4 teams that never appeared in a Super Bowl at all, the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions

Last Super Bowl Editions

As I said before this is the 57th edition of this amazing sports event. The last couple of events had some ups and downs. There were matches that were unbelievably exciting to watch. They’re by far the best games of the season. For example the 2018 Super Bowl game, that game was decided by one of the best plays ever seen in a Super Bowl.

But there were also matches that were a pain in the ass. When you watch a 4 hour game and the score is 13 – 3 you’re very disappointed.

  • 2022: Los Angeles Rams 23 – 20 Cincinnati Bengals
  • 2021: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31 – 9 Kansas City Chiefs
  • 2020: Kansas City Chiefs 31 – 20 San Francisco 49ers
  • 2019: New England Patriots 13 – 3 Los Angeles Rams
  • 2018: Philadelphia Eagles 41 – 33 New England Patriots

The great thing about these Super Bowl finals is that these finals are really diverse. In the last 5 editions there were 7 different contenders, which is really nice. Every team has a fair chance to reach the Super Bowl someday. Every year there are new favorites for the title. We’ll discuss some of the favorites this year.

NFL Super Bowl LVII Predictions

It’s hard to predict the NFL Super Bowl contenders, but of course we have a couple of favorites. These teams had a good start of the season and are just the ultimate favorites to reach the Super Bowl LVII. There are always factors that can get in the way, like injuries or an off-day. But these teams do have the capability to reach and win the Super Bowl this year.

Buffalo Bills

The No.1 ranked team in the world, the Buffalo Bills are the absolute favorite to reach and win the Super Bowl. Josh Allen should be enough to get the Bills to the Super Bowl, but you need more for a successful NFL team. The dynamic offense should end up in a serious amount of wins for the Bills.

Josh Allen is probably one of the most complete quarterbacks in the NFL. He can pass and he can run. With a QB like that, you can’t deny the strength of this team. He gets better and better every year. Josh Allen has thrown over 44.000 yards in the last 2 years! Last season Josh Allen also had the best PFF grade of all the QB’s in the playoffs. The only thing that could be in the way of the Super Bowl is their Game Management.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa-Bay-Super-Bowl-2023Tom Brady is the all-time MVP. He announced his retirement last year, so I wasn’t expecting Tampa Bay to be one of the favorites. But very quickly he withdrew his retirement. The offense of the Tampa Bay Bucs are killing. With Tom Brandy, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones you have a dynamic trio. But they also have Fournette as Running Back, he will crush your defense.

Keeping Tom Brandy on board is very important for the Bucs. In 2020 Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he won the Super Bowl in his first year!

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are always outsiders for the Lombardi Trophy. But everybody has high expectations this year. Their star will return this season, Jaire Alexander. The cornerback will lead the secondary of the Packers. This is where they can make a difference. Their starting secondary is one of the best in the league. He will do this together with first-round pick Eric Stokes, who had an amazing rookie year. I think this will become one of the best, if not the best duo this season!

Also Aaron Rogers is one amazing quarterback. He can lead this team to the Super Bowl, together with his offense he needs to score points. The running game of the Packers is fantastic, I believe they will use that strength in their favor. Especially because their wide receivers need to improve their game quickly.

Philadelphia Eagles

Why the Eagles? That’s easy to answer. They have the Number 2 easiest schedule in the NFL this season. The expectations of their new QB, Jalen Hurts, are really high!  He’s still a rookie, so maybe we’re expecting too much from him. But I definitely think he will reach the Super Bowl with his talent and this team.

The Eagles are also not favorites, but outsiders. If we look at the bookmakers you can find the Eagles in 10th place. But don’t underestimate a team like the Eagles. They had a good start of the season and still have some easy games ahead of them. A perfect schedule to reach the playoffs for sure!

Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas-City-Chiefs-Super-Bowl-2023The Chiefs have one of the best Head Coaches in the NFL, Andy Reid. And in combination with his playbook and a QB like Patrick Mahomes, you can underestimate this team this year. They lost a big part of their offense, Tyreek Hill. Due to salary issues he couldn’t stay at the Chiefs, so he moved to the Miami Dolphins. Other wide receivers need to step up and make the plays!

This team has won the Super Bowl in 2019 and since then they’ve managed to keep their performances high. Overall I don’t think the Chief will be the ultimate favorite to win the Super Bowl, but they’re good outsiders. The offense has some wrinkles, but with Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith-Schuster they have some great talent.

The Halftime Show

Maybe the most asked question every year is: Who will perform at the Halftime show of the Super Bowl? We can announce that Rihanna will be the headline of the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show.

The superstar follows the footsteps of some really big artists. Some examples are The Weekend, Lady Gaga and Coldplay. Last year we had a group of the biggest rappers who performed in the Halftime show: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige. Over 100 million people all over the world we’re watching the Halftime show. It’s by far the biggest one-day sports event on earth!

The NFL is stoked to have a big star as Rihanna on board for the Halftime show this year. On the 12th of February Rihanna will sing some of her most famous songs in the State-Farm Stadion in Arizona. The Head of Music also reacted to the big news.

NFL Head of Music, Seth Dubowky, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage.”
