Betting Tips & Odds – Yellow Jersey
There is one clear favourite for the yellow year during the Tour de France, Chris Froome. Last year Froome won it’s fourth Tour de France title and many expect him to win his fifth this year. Why? Because he has a very strong team, is in good shape (he won the Giro recently) and he has a lot of experience. At the moment you can place bets on Chris Froome as the Tour winner against odds of 2.75.
- Odds for Chris Froome; 2.75
- Odds for Richie Porte; 4.25
- Odds for Nairo Quintana; 7.00
- Odds for Vincenzo Nibali; 9.00
- Odds for Tom Dumoulin; 10.00
- Odds for Romain Bardet; 15.00
Although Chris Froome is the favourite by far there are scenarios where other riders might where the yellow jersey. One of these scenarios is the scenario where Chris Froome won’t be able to start in the Tour de France 2018 due to its current doping case. Froome is still under investigation for testing positive on salbutamol at the 2017 Vuelta a España. Although this is the case most people expect Froome to start since his case will start after the Tour. Many riders find this strange and have let media know they think Froome should be banned from cycling while he is under investigation. In this case we are sure Chris Froome won’t be the next Tour winner. One other scenario is the scenario where Froome is not in shape and not capable of competing with the other top riders. One last scenario where Froome might not be the yellow jersey wearer is the scenario where for some reason for example Wout Poels or Geraint Thomas for Team Sky will ride for the yellow jersey.
If Froome might not start or isn’t in shape then there are some other competitors that will go for the yellow jersey. Some of the most important competitors of Froome are Richie Porte (BMC), Nairo Quantana (Team Movistar) and Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain Merida Pro Cycling Team). If one of these riders is in good shape then they might be capable of breaking the rain of Froome. In addition to these riders there are some interesting outsiders with high odds including;
- Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) – 10.00
- Jakob Fuglsang (Astana Pro Team) – 19.00
- Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) – 21.00
- Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo) – 21.00
- Bauke Mollema (Trek-Sagafredo) – 67.00
